Our Approach to Development

At ISWA (Institute of Social Welfare Action), organizing rural communities into self-reliant, community-based institutions forms the backbone of our development approach. We work closely with marginalized households, particularly women and youth, to strengthen both collective platforms (like SHGs and producer groups) and individual micro-enterprises, enabling economic and social empowerment from the ground up.
Our interventions are designed to enhance livelihoods, promote climate-resilient agriculture, and foster entrepreneurship and skill development as pathways to long-term resilience. These efforts are grounded in local contexts and guided by the belief that sustainable development must be community-led, inclusive, and adaptive to evolving rural realities.

What We Do?

ISWA helps vulnerable households gradually move from survival to stability

1. Agriculture and Climate Change

At ISWA, we recognize that safeguarding rural livelihoods requires climate-adaptive agriculture that is resource-efficient, inclusive, and locally rooted.

2.Enterprise and Skill Development

Rather than providing direct vocational training, ISWA plays a catalytic and capacity-building role, supporting ecosystem actors to deliver quality enterprise development services in underserved areas.

3. Livelihood Enhancement

At ISWA, livelihood enhancement goes beyond improving agriculture or promoting enterprises. It is about ensuring that every household, especially the most vulnerable, has a reliable, dignified, and resilient source of income.

Our Belief

At ISWA

We believe that sustainable development is not something that can be delivered, it must
be co-created with the people. Our work is driven by the conviction that marginalised
communities, no matter how poor or remote, possess the knowledge, resilience, and capability to
lead their own transformation. What they often lack is access to opportunities, information,
networks, and systems that are meant to serve them.
